Seawall Repairs

Tropical Storm Irene has caused extensive damage to seawalls throughout the Connecticut shore communities as a result of the storm surge. As a result, the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection has issued an emergency authorization for seawall repairs, bulkhead repairs, and other necessary marine construction.

Here's what you should know about this emergency authorization:

1. Damaged seawalls can and should be repaired.
2. You must make repairs before December 31, 2011.

This allows you to make necessary repairs to your seawall or bulkhead without the standard waiting period for permits, as long as the proper procedures outlined are followed.
